Memories
Ken Moyer aka Chivo

Dona you will be missed much. You and Steve came into my life at a time of pain, and your smiling face and many words of encourag ement lifted me up farther than you will ever know. I remember your sense of humor and the way you would chew me and Steve out at CMA meetings for not being serious with that way you had that made everybody laugh, I will miss you much, we will meet again one day in the presance of our Lord.

Dona never let a day go by without making sure that her patients were well taken care of.  I remember how she was so proud of not having restraints on her unit.  One day, when we had a corporate visit, she announced to everyone about the patient who was in restraints because of the fear that he would fall and hurt himself.  She made sure that every day, the documentation was perfect...except for the fact that the reason for restraints was not valid!  I don't think she ever forgot that moment and neither did we!
I loved it when she would tactfully tell a physician off!  Music to our ears!  Her blood QA was always the best in the hospital.  Oh, Dona, you will be so missed, not only because of the wonderful job you did as a nurse, director and mentor, but for the life that you lived every day and the example that you set for all to see.  You deserve everlasting happiness...rest in peace, till we meet again!

There are so many happy and funny memories that I was fortunate enough to witness while working with Dona. One of my favorites is one time before she was the Medical Director she was on her Surgical Unit and was getting very frustrated because she was trying to call the Medical Unit and no one was answering the telephone up there.

I remember sitting at my desk and heard Dona get on the overhead paging system to the entire hospital and say in a stern voice "MEDICAL WILL YOU PLEASE PICK UP YOUR PHONE?" I remember sitting there as Bridgette walked out of her office and we looked at one another thinking "Oh No She Didn't" as We both began to laugh and just then we heard yet another overhead page by her. It was at that time that she received a call from Heidi informing her that the reason they were not answering their phones is because they were in the patients rooms. It was shortly after that when we took away her paging privileges but that moment will be with me forever because it was hilarious.
